1994
Description
Daybreak dawns on October 28, 1994, in Mozambique. This is a very special day: it is the first time Mozambique has held democratic elections.
In the village of Boane, west of the capital, Maputo, hundreds of voters wait for the polling station, located in a former schoolhouse, to open. These voters lined up for hours―some for days―just to cast their ballots. Patience and commitment, hope and excitement radiate from this image.
