Women in developing countries are the backbone of the family and the community. They grow the food and harvest it. They manage the household. They take care of the children and see to their health and education. We only have to look at this smiling image to feel this woman's strength and sense of purpose to believe in positive action to empower women-a constant theme in Canada's development programming.
