This young girl should be in school, but she is not. Instead, she spends part of her day scavenging in the ruins of Kabul for any objects that might bring in a little money for her struggling family. She stands there, wearing a discarded evening gown, with a strength beyond her years, a poignant image of beauty and innocence in sharp contrast against a war-ravaged landscape.
