Title
1993
Description
This boy lived in Winterveldt, north of Pretoria, South Africa. He played on a street fenced by barbed wire. This neighbourhood was just one of many that experienced violence and civil unrest during the turbulent times when apartheid laws had just been repealed, but armed, violent power struggles continued.
Children in wartorn countries in Africa and elsewhere are often direct or indirect victims of violence. They are scarred and traumatized by the horrors they frequently witness.
