Description

A young woman snips oregano leaves, preparing them for the dryer, after which they will be packaged and sold. She is a participant in a project the Government of Canada and its partners funded to help Bolivian farmers diversity their crops. More than 1,000 families have benefited from the program, many of them earning an extra $200 a year. Their increased income helps them pay their children's school fees and buy more necessities, such as cooking oil and clothes. This herb cultivation and marketing project is giving entire families hope for the future.
